The Way the Universe Forms (poetry)

“The Way the Universe Forms” by Mykell Hatcher-McLarin 4/27/14

And soon I’ll be counting stars in the form of scars creating constellations on my chest. And it’ll be like watching the universe form and my birth generate from star dust. And it’ll be like that white mass of space that I was told in church could be heaven. But my heaven will be here between the stitches that’ll make me feel more complete than before. I’ll flout in space gazing at the moon pumping in my chest and the stars. And the stars. And the scars will be my stars. And I’ll count them happily.
