So(U)lar (poetry)

“So(U)lar” by Mykell Hatcher-McLarin 5/20/14

And the Sun, the Sun will rise.
Oh wait
And the Sun, the Sun has risen.

Woke up to another day, another day that will be as grand as sun beams that illuminate the whole earth. I feel like we’re sun beams illuminating the whole earth. I mean our light is pretty bright. I can see you from over the rainbow and through the clouds of rainstorms. My God you are shining as I’ve seen all our Gods in us adjusting mirrors to reflect inward and then outward as light fills the brim of a soul carrying sundial from the land of birthright. We were born at the center of the Sun and that light that flowed into our veins and coursed through our heartbeat was never meant to stay inside behind shaded windows and lamp covers. No, we are natural and free and brightening the world on an axis. We are continuous like the day spreading across the planets. And of course they are some that won’t feel our rays but our presence is still known across the Universe. One day we might explode, but I heard that is far down into forever. Our existence now is bright. Is more than bright, is ever present, is luminescent, is beyond reach but I still feel the warmth of the heat we bring. Here, come look at the Sun rise with me.

And the Sun, the Sun will rise.
Oh wait
And the Sun, the Sun has risen.

The Sun rose when we opened our eyes.
