The Daylight (poetry)

“The Daylight” by Mykell Hatcher-McLarin 6/24/14

I looked out the window
and it was as if the Sun was Shining for Me.
I knew he wasn’t
but for a second I imagined
that if I gazed at the Trickles of Light
peaking through my curtain
that they would Embrace my Skin
with Warmth.
I Imagined that
I was someone to be Seen.
I stood there for a while
Gazing at Daylight
knowing that
One Day
I would be surrounded by Solar Flares
Shredding the Shadows.
The Daylight
would not only be Outside My Window.
The Daylight would be Fully on Me.
